An attractive alternative to a plastic compost bin, the design of these beehive compost bins is based on the traditional WBC Beehive. In fact many people actually think it's a real hive with bees! They are made from 1" thick high quality Scandinavian Pine from managed forests, which is then pressure-treated with timber preservatives to prevent rot and insect damage.

These beehive compost bins are ideal for the smaller garden where space is at a premium, turning kitchen waste (vegetable peelings, tea bags, eggshells etc.) and garden clippings into an invaluable compost. They can also be used to store garden tools, firewood, or hide an unsightly waste bin and are an attractive garden feature in their own right.

beehive compost bins The Beehive Compost Bin measures 26" x 26" with an overall height of just over 36" and has an internal capacity of around 260 litres. The gabled roof hinges right back for loading and is held on a sash cord leaving both your hands free for loading. A door at the base can be lifted off to remove compost when ready or alternatively the individual sections can be lifted off to access the lower layers of well-rotted material.

When used as a compost bin, they should always be sited on bare earth to allow worms to enter from the ground and provide drainage, never place on concrete slabs or other hard surface.
