Cast iron lantern cloches are a classic gardening feature which recreates the style and atmosphere of the traditional English garden. In addition to their visual appeal, these lantern cloches are also highly functional, protecting young and delicate plants from wind and frosts and extending the growing season.

Despite their delicate appearance, these reproduction Victorian cloches are very robust, weighing between 12 to 34 kilograms so they can withstand high winds without risk of being blown away.

The castings are zinc coated prior to painting to inhibit rust formation. The lantern cloches are glazed and painted in the traditional manner using metal casement putty and finished to simulate an antique appearance. They make a wonderful authentic feature for the vegetable or ornamental garden.

As well as lantern cloches, we also sell hand-blown glass bell cloches. Available in two sizes, these attractive hand-blown glass cloches are made the traditional way; consequently no two cloches are identical. The glass has one or two minor imperfections, small trapped air bubbles, a rippled surface and the light distorting qualities usually associated with antique cloches. The elegant handle is a solid ball of clear glass.
