Based in Dorset, Farrow & Ball is the last remaining traditional paint and wallpaper manufacturer in Britain.
They only use the finest ingredients and still manufacture wallpaper to traditional methods and paint to original formulations.
A wide range of paint colours and finishes are available, from Estate Emulsion and Dead Flat Oil through to Floor Paint, Oil Eggshell and Casein Distemper. Many have been developed together with the National Trust.
The paints are of the highest quality and have a devoted following!
Farrow & Ball wallpapers have an exclusive quality which sets them apart from all the others. They are printed by traditional processes using F&B's own water-based paints. Thus they retain the beauty of the past and, incidentally, avoid the high VOC problems associated with printed inks. They are also fully washable.
The use of paint not only increases the depth of colour, but imparts a soft chalky finish unmatched by any other medium. Additionally, and significantly, with colours drawn from the company's extensive paints palette, the colour co-ordination from paper to paper and paper to paint is excellent.
The dragged and striped collections are printed by the 19th century pan method, in which the paper is pulled under open-bottomed troughs full of paint. The block prints use techniques from the 18th century, each block being individually painted and pressed gently onto brushed-on ground colours.
